The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has secured a major commercial boost after announcing a five-year partnership with X1, an elite performance beverage brand, as part of efforts to strengthen support for both national teams and domestic competitions.

The agreement, unveiled at the FA’s headquarters on Friday, April 17, 2026, will see X1 become the Official Performance Partner of the Black Stars and the Division One League Super Cup. The deal includes a mix of financial backing and product supply over the duration, aimed at improving preparation, logistics and overall performance structures.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku described the partnership as a key step in the FA’s broader strategy to build a stronger and more competitive football ecosystem.

“Today marks a defining moment in our journey to transform and elevate Ghana football. It is with great pride that we announce this five-year partnership,” he said.

He noted that the timing of the agreement is significant as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Black Stars expected to benefit directly from enhanced performance support.

“As Performance Partner, X1 will play an important role in improving preparation and the overall well-being of the team. This support comes at a crucial time,” he added.

Beyond the national team, the partnership places strong emphasis on domestic football, particularly the Division One League Super Cup. Simeon-Okraku said the investment would contribute to strengthening clubs and developing the wider football structure.

On behalf of Hoshi International, Global Lead Richard Zhang said the agreement reflects a long-term commitment to Ghana football.

“This is the beginning of a shared journey built on ambition and a clear commitment to growth. We are proud to support both elite performance and the domestic game,” he stated.

As part of the collaboration, Black Stars players Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu have been named as brand ambassadors and equity partners, a move aimed at deepening local involvement in the brand.

X1 has also outlined plans to invest in grassroots football, including the provision of equipment for young players.

The partnership signals a combined effort to improve performance at the highest level while strengthening the foundation of the game across Ghana.
